Teenage Mobile App Developers

Do you know that there is an increase in the number of teenage mobile app developers? Several big companies are encouraging the efforts of these young developers irrespective of their age and education. In 2012, a teenager based in California developed a mobile app for the Home Depot in a contest and won $10,500, which impressed a Facebook official and the company offered internship for her. Nearly seven months back, Yahoo bought a news-reading app, ‘Summly’ from a 12-year-old British teenager for tens of millions of dollars. The company also employed him and is planning to incorporate his algorithmic invention in its own mobile apps.

Entrepreneurial spirit is a precious gift indeed – something that combines passion, confidence, positivity and ambition. A real entrepreneur is not daunted by the prospect of failure and is willing to embrace both highs and lows with the same positive spirit. It is remarkable that the younger generation, the architects of the future have this fire in them to contribute something unique to society.

Teenage app developers are not only getting jobs in big firms, but are also carving their niche in the field of mobile application development by starting their own companies. Llyt is such a technology startup established by two Atlanta teens (19-year-old and 15-year-old) in 2012. The latest endeavor from this startup is an iOS app named Sketch’d, which is regarded as the world’s first iOS app that allows people to draw anything, animate it and share it with others as a looping video.

So, being under-age or lack of higher education is not a hindrance to find a lucrative career in the area of mobile app development. It’s talent and motivation that matters most.

With the increasing use of Smartphones, mobile apps and mobile application development is becoming an inevitable part of modern technology. The need for mobile app developers is thus increasing at a higher rate. The ace players in Smartphone market including Apple and Google are striving to attract app developers to their App Store by providing some relaxation in their regulations. Many popular firms are eager to acquire mobile apps from talented app developers. Not only are they looking for developers who can create customized mobile applications for different types of businesses, but also those who are talented in mobile web application development for various kinds of domains such as social networking, medical, banking and others.

Mobile App Development – A Fertile Ground for Entrepreneurs

The latest global survey of freelancers by an online staffing firm oDesk and a Gen Y consulting firm, Millennial Branding revealed around 72 percent having regular jobs want to quit their jobs and work entirely for themselves. Around 61 percent affirmed that they will quit their jobs within two years. According to the survey, the top reason for this is the prospect of flexibility and freedom as 89 percent prefer to work by choosing their own workplace and timings rather than adjusting with a strict corporate job.

The job of developing mobile apps can surely provide the freedom and flexibility these professionals are looking for. Being highly portable, Smartphones provide the opportunity for app developers to work with real-time data anywhere with the help of tools including Google Drive and Dropbox. Mobile App Stores (for instance, Apple’s App Store, Google’s Play Store) allow application developers to publish their applications at anytime from anywhere and gain a share of the revenue obtained from the sales with ease.

However, it is challenging to develop efficient mobile apps for various businesses and publish them on App Stores utilizing emerging technologies and following the guidelines of different Smartphone companies. For example, Apple introduced the new iOS 7 which can provide fresh mobile experience and greater user-friendliness. But, the mobile apps which are designed for iOS 6 won’t work well on iOS 7. You need to develop new apps that are compatible with this platform. Apple has published revised Developer License Agreement for App Developers. Its App Store will reject those apps that violate this agreement. In spite of the challenges involved in mobile application development for Apple iOS 7, entrepreneurs like the young teens mentioned at the outset will have no hesitation in surging ahead with their innovations.

A recent Nielsen report highlights the fact that the majority of the 120 million Smartphone users in the United States use a shopping or retail app at least once in a month. Businesses looking to tap into new revenue streams will be keen on having their own mobile apps, given that today’s consumers virtually live in tablets and Smartphones. This speaks volumes of the prospects of entrepreneurs engaged in customized mobile app development.

Any online store, whether a new or an established one, needs to make efforts to increase sales. Every aspect of your ecommerce website counts! Here is an example of the checkout process. Sometime back, the checkout feature was just an add-on. But now, it becomes one of the most important aspects to increase sales.

As a per a Baymard Institute survey, almost 69 percent of shopping carts left abandoned online till the year 2017. It brings loss of sales and spoils the reputation of the store. We can blame on a diminished user experience for this situation. But then, such user experience is an outcome of a poorly managed checkout process.

Thankfully, Magento 2 enables you to offer better checkout experience. In a way, it can drive a conversion with ease. The platform enhances the functionality of Magento 2 extensions, that further enhances the experience. The new and improved cart system works wonders in Magento 2.0. As an advanced version, Magento 2 has simplified the checkout process.

How Does The Magento 2 Checkout Process Surpass Its Predecessor?

Magento 1 or M1 version had a six-step checkout process. It required customers to fill in multiple fields. From checkout to shipping method, and billing to order review, customers had to fill every information. This is because they could move to the next step only after filling the previous one. In other words, the checkout process was tiresome and complicated. Such a process leads to cart abandonment.

Now comes Magento 2. Welcome to the cleverly designed checkout process of just two steps! The First for Shipping and second for Payment & Reviews. Easy-to-fill steps and streamlined process can assist you facing the challenge of card abandonment efficiently. In brief, the Magento 2 Checkout Process has made the checkout experience awesome for the customers.

Here are the five factors that help Magento 2 store owners in boosting sales and offering the users with a better checkout experience.

1. Guest Checkout

Let’s face it! Most of the online shoppers hate to register with your store. Just because of cumbersome process of registration, they tend to leave the store. Magento 2 has cleverly addressed this issue with the automatic guest checkout feature. It makes the checkout process simple and encourages the visitor to complete the order. There is no need to register to purchase anything.

2. Excellent Design

Intuitive design plays a vital role to make the checkout process more pleasant. It keeps your customers away from confusion. For example, Magento 2 platform shows an order summary, a mini cart, along with product images on the right sidebar. It stays till the customer/visitor completes the process. The minicart, being responsive in nature, is accessible to smartphone users as well.

3. Payment Integration

How about integrating multiple payment methods in your ecommerce store? It is the need of the hour as we have many digital payment options. You can also create personalized payment modules to fulfill your specific business needs. Customized Magento 2 Extensions come handy for you to make such modules. The platform speeds up the process if both billing and shipping addresses are the same.

4. Dynamic Shipping Rates

The Magento 2 platform has dynamic shipping rates. It means that, the system calculates the shipping rate based on the shipping address. It shows your customers all the information related to the shipping cost in a flesh. If the customer accepts it, the price would reflect the shipping rate. You can also customize the shipping rates for various products with this feature. For example, if you want to reduce or increase the shipping rate for specific products, you can do it with this feature.

5. No Distraction

Simplicity is one of most important characteristics of Magento 2 platform. The checkout process of this platform is also distraction-free for your customers! It contains only the company logo and the Shipping and Payment tabs. In contrast to this, the Magento 1 page has a lot of links, or say, distraction points for customers. It enables you to prevent your customers from visiting other websites and focus on completing their orders.

Simply put, Magento 2 is a boon of technological advancements and has gained the ground shortly with its user-friendly features and seamless functionalities. Be it checkout or any other ecommerce-related aspects, Magento 2 takes care of all!

Wrapping Up

A better checkout experience is one of the most important factors to drive sales online. From cart to completion of order, Magento 2 makes things way simple and easy for the customers. As an online shop owner, you will observe reduced cart abandonments and increased sales figures. Magento 2 extensions helps you enhance the checkout experience by using customized Magento 2 extensions.

For a long time, the developers’ community acted as purists with respect to Web Apps Development. There was a strong belief that custom coding from scratch could be the only option. However, after many Open Source platforms providing faster mechanisms, the developers have adopted new methods. And, WordPress is one of the market leaders due wide range of WordPress plugins.

Supposing, you require an airline company and wish to build a self-service app. Probably a couple of years ago, you would have required custom development from scratch. The major task is to provide set of dynamic bridges between the website backend and the CRM. Developing a similar Web App using WordPress would certainly save time in development efforts.

However, the larger advantage is how easy it makes to provide additional features. WordPress plugins for customer portals and service portals could connect your site with your CRM instantly. Moreover, it also enables you to use single CRM license for your entire customer base as a user.

The world of websites and web development as a whole has a lot to thank WordPress for. At present, WordPress alone powers 29% of the Internet. Moreover, the market share of the WordPress CMS alone is over 60%. What makes us love WordPress so much? Ease of use, the Open Source Community, the beauty of the platform, the blog, so on.

If we unfold the mystery, and go down to the micro level, the answer could be WordPress Plugins. The availability of the WordPress Plugins for diverse use-cases is parallel to none. With plugin library of over 35000 and over 800M downloads, WordPress is truly the king of the CMS!

The Evolved WordPress Sites

WordPress alone powers over 80% of world’s most popular websites. To continue doing so, WordPress as a platform and along with that the WordPress plugins must evolve. Not too long ago, the developer community encountered rumors(?) of insecure WordPress sites. For a long time, we believed that WordPress sites cannot handle the large volumes of traffic.

At present, WordPress powers heavy traffic media sites and performance driven ecommerce sites. The robust use cases within the WordPress framework are possible due to the wide plugin library. Further, WordPress rolled out yet another Security & Maintenance Release with the version 4.9.1. Post version 4.0, WordPress addressed most vulnerabilities. And extensive plugins ensured scalability.

The Next Question?

Majority of the small to medium enterprises are empowering themselves with CRM applications. Integrations of a website built on any platform with a CRM could be a tricky business. However, it is an essential integration as it automates several business processes for your business. WordPress and the Web 3.0 provides just the perfect platform to build robust web applications.

WordPress Plugins Are Not Vulnerable!

It is not a question. Not anymore! There are many aspects that makes a WordPress site vulnerable and plugins are not just the reason. Sure, not a logical one…

Based on the facts shared in the beginning of this post, it is obvious that hackers would target WordPress sites. It is a volume game. Finding a weak spot in WordPress core would affect higher number of sites than to do so in any other platform. And, so does the impact for WordPress plugins. As a site owner, you would want more secure options for your site.

However, the increasing penetration of WordPress into the top tier of brands demands higher security for WordPress plugins. And, in the past few years, the developers have worked towards ensuring so. Additionally, the past few years also portray that there is no such thing as safe website in literal sense. It is all about the best you can do to safeguard your website. And, how effective your backup & prevention tools are.

Conclusion:

From Bloomberg to Wall Street Journal Blog, there are many leading media sites powered by WordPress. And Media remains the domain to own the higher traffic per site across any region. The world of WordPress plugins is vast and capable to build an ecommerce store to sustain high performance.

Understand the challenges and ensure security measures. Enjoy development using WordPress plugins, after all, they deserve the due credit for making the internet so beautiful and fun to interact with.

Online business is now overlapping the traditional way of business. Hence, it is very important to create a strong online presence for your business. No wonder you had to deal with those industry giants too.

The primary requirement for creating an online presence for your business is “A Website”. A website, that helps to establish a brand. A website, that helps to grow your online presence. A website, that helps to build trust in the market & brings you business.

In order to have such a website, you need to focus on two things.

  • Website Design(UI/UX)
  • SEO

There are two options to build a website. Either you hire a freelance web designer or an agency who can build you a website or you create a Job vacancy – pay salary to a web designer who can make your website in-house right in front of you.

If it is a small website that didn’t need frequent changes, then hiring a freelance web designer or web design agency is the best option. Simply, contact some of the website designers or website designing agency. Spend some time on their work portfolio. Analyze & evaluate their work. Talk with them about your business and then select the best you think for your business website.

If your website needs daily updation, then you can hire a web designer/developer to work in-house so that quick changes can be done according to your preference.

However, you can also hire an agency who can work for you on a routine basis or as website maintenance contract.

Whatever the way you choose, make sure to follow these Web Design Tips for Small Business Website

There are a number of applications out there that allow you to design websites using WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editors. We’re going to look at the best web design software that falls into this category. We’ll also look at the benefits of using such software to help you decide whether or not it’s right for you.

The principle behind WYSIWYG editors is that whatever you see on the page is what you’ll get when your website is published. Basically it gives you an interface where you can build your website exactly how you want it to look when people visit it online.

The most popular web design software packages are Dreamweaver, FrontPage and XSitePro. Adobe Dreamweaver is the professional choice due to its massive range of features and ability to create dynamic websites. The downside being it’s difficult to pick up and use ‘out of the box’ and requires a lot of hours to learn just the basics, especially if you’re new to web design. It’s also expensive to buy.

Microsoft’s FrontPage has a lot of features but often adds needless code to the pages it creates. This can increase page loading times, especially for those who still access the internet using a dial-up connection. It’s not as user-friendly as Dreamweaver and pushes you in the direction of using Microsoft server technologies to build dynamic sites which won’t suit everyone’s needs. On the plus side, FrontPage costs less than Dreamweaver and is slightly easier to learn.

The third and final WYSIWYG web design software we’re going to look at is XSitePro from Intellimon Ltd. This is a relatively new application that has been developed with the novice or internet marketer in mind.

Because the majority of features within Dreamweaver and FrontPage won’t be used by most users, XSitePro has done away with them and left only the tools that novice-to-intermediate web designers need. It’s resulted in an easy-to-use application that can be picked up and used by just about anybody.

The downside to XSitePro is that it’s more difficult to create dynamic sites and has done away with the look and feel of traditional WYSIWYG website software. So if you’re used to working with Dreamweaver or FrontPage then you might find XSitePro hard to get used to.

When it comes to web design software, a WYSIWYG editor is really the only way to go. It makes production time far quicker, but you need to start with the right software.

If you’re a professional web designer and you want to create cutting-edge websites using the latest technologies then without a doubt you need to use Adobe Dreamweaver. It’s amazingly powerful and automates a lot of the common tasks associated with web design.

If you’re not after something quite as feature-packed as Dreamweaver and you’re a fan of Microsoft technologies and you’d like to use them on the web, then FrontPage might be for you. Just don’t go creating large pages as they could take an age to load!

If you’re new to web design or you’d like to get something that doesn’t have the learning time of Dreamweaver or FrontPage then XSitePro is for you. It’s quick to learn, easy to use and can produce truly beautiful sites very quickly. And like Dreamweaver, it automates a lot of the common tasks associated with web design.

Picking the right WYSIWYG web design software is essential to make sure you find web design fun and interesting and not a chore. You should choose based on your skill level and exactly what you want to achieve. That will give you the results you want and will make building websites something you can enjoy for years to come.

What our Year-End Analytics Revealed About our Top 3 Performing Articles and how these Insights Can Help Your Business Marketing in 2018′

It’s the end of the year and businesses are wrapping up their 2017 activities and preparing for new opportunities in 2018.

Like many of you, we put a lot of time and effort into our business and branding. And one key element to all business marketing efforts is to look at the results in order to effectively plan out future marketing and business operation changes.

We recently set about doing our year-end review on our content marketing and social media efforts and wanted to share some of the insights we discovered in hopes you will get inspired to analyze your own efforts while planning for the year ahead.

Where and What to Analyze

One quick and easy way to go about your year-end review is to look at your online engagement from the past year. Whether it’s checking your social media stats or looking at your website traffic, lots can be gleaned from these types of analytics.

There are a few places to look for the stats you need: You can utilize Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics, or your blog stats.

Log into each of these and take a look at how your posts and articles performed. They can provide a lot of valuable information on how your business and marketing resonates with users.

If you’re stuck on social media and want to read more, please review our robust catalogue of content related to all things social media.

So what did our analytics tell us what our followers liked? Here’s 3 valuable insights learned from 3 of our tops posts this year:

1. Communicating to Maintain Effective Client Relationships

Communication is key to a successful business and when clients and followers communicate with you through social media, whether it’s by a direct comment, a share, or something else, you need to listen!

Client relationships are a big deal for us and we like to build long-term ones by treating our clients with respect and listening to what they say.

We don’t just hear it, we listen. We then adjust and improve to reflect the client’s expectations.

So apply advice from the article like this:

Use language and mannerisms your clients can relate to – use mirroring to deliver messages in a way that makes them feel comfortable.

And apply the same recognition and response to your social media. If you’ve noticed some articles focus on something specific and your clients/audience are receptive to it by way of engagement, then in 2018 you should know what to do!

Give them what they want and build your client-base by accepting what your followers like and expect from you. Communication is a very broad term and doesn’t always mean simply direct vocalization or emails.

2. 10 Ways to Attracting Clients Through Kindness

This article has our approach laid bare. We watch, listen, learn, and follow the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated.

Open yourself to receiving both good and bad feedback and accept each as constructive.

Assess the full picture of what is happening and understand where the feedback is coming from.

We employ kindness and generosity all the time. It’s a big deal when put into practice and by following that and our other 9 steps from the article, we’ve seen our business and client-base grow consistently!

3. Why Twitter Ads Boost Business & How to Create Them

Social media is a BIG factor in most businesses and has effectively replaced a lot of other support channels as users go to for getting a response.

So once you’re online it’s time to make the most of it. None of the businesses whose names we know are worth what they are today without requiring some paid component. Twitter is no exception.

While Facebook offers advertising and Instagram as well (among all others) our article on Twitter’s paid promotion resonated with our audience. 110 shares through our website alone is a great indicator of the effectiveness of this content with our follower-base and potential clients!

As stated in the article, diving into social media can have drawbacks so if you’re looking to get serious, it’s good to hire online marketers who know how to use social media for business.

We don’t have any information on how effective our reader’s Twitter campaigns have been, but our clients have seen stellar results. From this we learned that within our content we have users who are anxious to expand their presence online and try new ways to reach new potential clients.

Is this limited to Twitter? Probably not and the real message here is that when we give back to our clients and readers with free tips via content marketing strategies, we will see reciprocation by way of new leads and new clients.

So what did you learn this year from your content and social media marketing efforts? Take a look at your metrics and see what they tell you.

Then take that information into the board room and help make 2018 even better.

1. Never Do No SEO

No SEO means very limited visitors to your website. If you do not implement SEO the search engines cannot rank your website with relevant keywords. They may not even index the website for months. Leaving you hanging around waiting for traffic that will never appear.

2. On Page – Off Page SEO Needed

You will not achieve great success without doing them both. Many would argue on-page SEO and off-page SEO are just as important as each other. Your site can be optimised and ranking but off-page can sky rocket the traffic and make your site have authority (another key factor to ranking higher in the search engines).

3. Do Not Leave SEO For Another Day

The quicker you start the better it will be. Leaving it for another time will mean more pages to optimise and less traffic hitting the website. No ALT tags / image tags / headlining’s will spell disaster not to speak will takes days/weeks/months to go manually.

4. Know Your Competition

Know where they are ranking and for what keywords. Knowing this enables you to compete with them. Without knowing this are blindly going about your business, use their work they’ve already done to boost your website higher.

5. Never Think Your Website Is Finished

If you want it to rank higher in the SERPS you need to add new content and be improving the site each month. Creating new content means the Google bots will search the sites regularly and update their indexing.

6. Know Why Websites Get Penalties

Known issues are poor content, over use of keywords, advert heavy pages, low quality backlinks amongst a lot of other things. Research how to get rid of these penalties as the search engines will drop your site in the rankings and not allow it back until the problems are solved.

7. Do Not Copy Content

If Google thinks (knows) your content is copied it will downgrade this page or worse the entire website. Most pictures nowadays are copyrighted so be aware when using these images as well (a big bill could come your way). If using content from else where always acknowledge the original source.

8. Blog

If you blog you add value most importantly. But secondly it adds new content to your site. New keywords areas and give people a reason to visit your site.

9. Use Google Search Console

The search console enables you to find out what traffic you are currently getting and how many impressions you are getting and for what keywords. This is a very powerful tool to measure website traffic.

10. Set Up & Ask For Reviews On Google Business Pages

Google Business Pages can help you rank number 1, even if your website is not number one for a certain search. This is a crafty tool most SEO consultants / companies keep to themselves. Its easy to set up and great for local searches.

I could go on for about another 100 posts. But in the coming weeks I’ll pick apart each section and go into a lot more detail about the do’s and do not’s in the SEO world. It’s all about doing the basics, then implementing your own strategy. Watching this carefully then adjusting what you are doing. SEO is very time consuming but the benefits far outweigh the option of not doing any.

Whenever I have an opportunity to look at the web design trends from all across the web, one thing that disappoints me always is they are all the same from last year, or probably not what you see around these days. I mean come on, animation has been always considered to be a big trend in enhancing a website, and that too even today. However, do you know how big a trend animation is? Seriously, if you really have a checklist of trends, and if you are going to include a full screen animation video into it, you better check out a niche range of top websites before doing so. No one likes to see an animated video anymore. There is the lot more than that. To prove it, let us check out 5 niche trends that are going to take the web design arena by storm.

1. A non scrollable full screen can be a difference maker

So finally, people are getting used to sites that are non scrollable, since they have to put in fewer efforts into site navigation. Imagine, scrolling those one page sites, till eternity, with a sticky header accompanying you all the way to the bottom. It is always refreshing to see pages wherein everything is present within the screen, and you need not to scroll for navigating to other pages. Nowadays, people are very busy, and non scrolling sites can act as a great time saver for them. Let us look at a few examples why this is great.

  • Facebook Privacy Basics
Facebook makes use of side scrolling sliders to explain step by step instructions on the basics related to their privacy policy, backed by some wonderful illustrations. Great, isn’t it?
  • Fantasy
Fantasy is a design agency doing a great job of keeping everything above the fold. Although, it appears as if some sort of scrolling is involved, in reality, it isn’t. Checking in the work section, you can access the content below the fold, by clicking on the icons present above the fold.
  • KLM 50 Travels
Another wonderful example of implementing this concept, taking you through 50 destinations with the help of a walk through video wherein you need to sit back and relax, watching the best places to visit around. Just use arrow keys, or space bar for a little bit navigation if required, avoiding users to make use of mouse.

2. A headline residing in a sticky format on the sideways

This is a brand new trend, seen on very few sites. It is always best to check such kind of trends on sites of design studios, or agency sites. This is a style wherein you have a sticky headline moving with the text, as you scroll down. This is a wonderful trend that is found only on desktops and not meant for a mobile viewing. Let us look at a few examples why this is great.

  • Code & Theory
The site makes use of city headlines as a sticky format, so when you do a scroll, the related city name appears on the left side, and it changes when scrolling is continued.
  • Stack Overflow
Herein, the sub-navigation appears to be sticky as you scroll, with only the highlighting changing based on the section appearing on the right.
  • DDB Sthlm
When you scroll down, you will see the corresponding menu remaining sticky on the side with only menu names changing as per the content.

3. Loading is everything about showing the logo

This is another huge trend gaining popularity nowadays. The only thing you have while the site is getting loading is showing off the logo. Let us look at a few examples why this is great.

  • Instrument
When you open up the website, the only thing you see while the loading is taking place is the logo. After then it vanishes, and only appears back when you open the menu.
  • Fubiz
The site has different logos meant for different sections. So, when you open a section, you have a different logo backed with some nice animations.
  • This Also
Another great design wherein the menu navigation icon takes the role of the logo by holding the position, as well as acting as a loader. Not directly, but the design makes an indirect approach towards this trend breaking the norms.

4. Background images appearing in a disruptive manner

Imagine, the background images taking all over the site real estate. This is definitely, not a new trend. However, what’s new in this is when mouse hovers over the background, suddenly the background image starts showing motion. Now, this is an amazing trend. Let us look at a few examples why this is great.

  • Make me pulse
The site uses the trend quite convincingly such that when you hover over the background, you see digital mountains rising up, wherever the cursor moves.
  • Active Theory
This is another great site wherein the background shows movements with your cursor moving here and there. It looks as if you are creating some sort of a distortion in the digital background.
  • Details
The site might require you to do some scrolling stuff. But as you do, and when you reach the bottom of the team, you have some nice distortion taking place. Although slightly, but nice!

5. Using animations over the top through a creativity touch

Since this is possible nowadays, why not to opt for it? Animations when introduced in a right fashion can work wonders, making the overall experience entertaining, as well as pleasing enough. Do it with great precaution since it can consume your loading time and speed, but do it over the top for making it all of them worth it.

  • Waaark
The design studio has produced one of the most stunning experiences in terms of visuals this year. The site does a great job of actually going over the top when it comes to animations.
  • Animocons
A classic example of click based animations, with everything happening with just mere clicks.
  • Rally Interactive Beta
Another site with right kind of animations, going crazy all over the place, and animation effects changing with clicks, while things remaining simpler when you have nothing selected.
