If you are a website designer, or are starting up a website or a blog for the first time, you have probably started to realize that WordPress is most definitely the best website design platform available today. Some website designers have given other web hosting platforms a try, but ultimately come back to WordPress based on all of the features listed below that make it such a compelling solution for websites that require sales or lead generation performance.

• Content distribution engine – when configured properly (most people don't) WordPress is a content distribution engine. We configure WordPress websites to distribute to search engines, ping sites, social media sites, social bookmarking sites and RSS aggregator sites. This sends each blog post to more than 10,000 sites! You can find your post in Google within a few minutes.

• Plugins – WordPress has what amounts to an endless supply of available plugins for you to apply to your website. These are all easy to download and apply to your website, and they are completely free! No matter what your website needs in terms of functionality, WordPress usually has the plugin you will need so you don't need to write custom software to do this.

• Themes – Website designers know that one of the most important aspects of creating an attractive website is the availability of nice looking themes. WordPress has thousands of themes, which are all completely customizable to meet the needs of your specific website design. The themes are available in open format, 1 column, 2 columns, 3 columns, many different colors and graphics.

• Cost – You can set up free websites or blogs on WordPress.com, however, the serious business or website designer can set up their own domain name (and a premium or professionally custom designed website theme if desired) with a WordPress website at a hosting company for under $ 60 a year. That is a small investment for a business tool that end up being a major source of income and business lead generation.

• Intra-Site Linking – For both search engine optimization (SEO) and usability purposes it is ultra important to have a solid linking scheme for the pages of your website. WordPress links pages through SEO-friendly menus and special pages like tags, categories and archives as well as blog widgets like tag clouds, most recent posts and most recent comments.

• Simplicity – WordPress is extremely user-friendly. Even the newest website designer can easily install WordPress with a click. It is not necessary for a new website designer to know anything at all about computers in order to use WordPress to host their websites. Once it is installed, you just have to log into your account, add a page or blog post and start editing. It's as simple as using a word processor like Microsoft Word.

• Easily Customizable – Once you have your website (s) up and running with WordPress, it is extremely simple to customize your WordPress web design. Website designers will love all of WordPress's widgets that allow simple drag and drop designing with ease. You will find that you can literally do almost anything with WordPress's design capabilities.

Sticky Elements

The next year will continue to test the waters of user experience (UX), and will include changes to website animation, the amount of color, and new trends in typography and font sizing.

Let’s look at “sticky elements” like hello bars and sticky navigation, which are heavily in use on websites. In this regard, designers realize the advantages of making some elements “stick” to the side of a web page for less friction when sharing messages unnoticeably with visitors.

Hand-Drawn Elements

Stock images were the “in” thing during the early days of web design. It was easy to find them, as users do not need to do much except search, purchase one, and download it. There was also custom photography, which gives website owners and designers an opportunity to add a personal touch to their web design.

Sure, none of these design options will be given up since custom and stock photography still get used. However, designers who want to add a creative spin on a website and make it their own can use hand-drawn artwork. This doesn’t mean that they have to create a new website entirely from scratch, but instead incorporate hand-drawn elements such as text, images – as well as highlighting within it.

Fluid Shapes

In case designers are interested in finding out where the fluid shape design originated from, they just have to think about the geometric designs that were dominant in websites during the past few years. In essence, this trend shows that geometry rules, but should not always be too excessive. Also, if desired, it is okay to give depth and movement to shapes.

Moving on to 2020 designers may want to soften the sharp edges on a website. They also await the return of 3D Material Design layering.

Mobile Prioritization

Lastly, they should prioritize the mobile experience. With the mastering of techniques – like responsive web design and mobile-friendly websites – it is reasonable for Google to be ready to make everything more interesting with mobile-first indexing.

As a result, sites will not be ranked using the desktop anymore. Soon, Google will make use of the website’s mobile version to determine rank. As the mobile experience gets prioritized in the web design process, other mobile-first initiatives, tools, and techniques are little by little becoming accessible to many. This year, in particular, will see a lot more websites depending on SVGs (rather than JPGs or PNGs), and many sites going through Google AMP.

Following Trends in 2020

One great thing about web design is that it keeps evolving. 2020 web design trends are sure to need a little reconfiguration in WordPress or other Content Management Systems. But, the good news is that there’s no need to learn an entirely new CMS platform. These UI/UX trends just require a little conditioning for web designers and their visitors.

When it comes to website design, there are three very important elements that must influence the process of developing a site which can be viewed on the Internet.

1. Customer Satisfaction.

Although this should be common sense customer satisfaction does not always take a front row seat in the priority department for many agencies. It seems that in the era of our fast paced society a lack of customer satisfaction is the status quo. Companies often rush from completing one job to the next and in the process they somehow skip steps, miss promised timelines, or fail to meet agreed upon priorities. Which comes to my next point.

2. Listening to the Customer's Needs

The old adage that the customer is always right has been somewhat lost. Clients generally have an idea of what they want to achieve with their websites. Typically, for businesses, it is to bring in new business or increased revenue. What they often do not know; however, is how to accomplish this online in the form of their website. This should not really be a surprise, because often this is not an area of expertise for many entrepreneurs or company executives. This also does not mean that the web development firm hired to complete the website should just run ahead without consulting the client on their needs.

It takes a practiced skill to help the client identify what they want to accomplish online and what the look and feel of the website should be. This initial groundwork will certainly go a long way in understanding the overall goal of the site, and how to best achieve this within best design and development practice.

3. The Ability to Communicate with the Client

This skill of helping the client identify what they want to accomplish online can be best identified as communication. It is the process of exchanging information through various means to accomplish an understanding or shared meaning of ideas. The ability to do this well only comes with skill and practice. A good analogy of this process would be the traveller looking for directions in a foreign place using a different language. The traveller is like the website design firm looking for directions from the local: the client. Like the local who may or may not know the directions, the client may or may not know what they are looking for in their website. A good project manager in the web design firm will use all their skills to gather the information, and help the client along in their journey of conveying what they want in their website.

These skills may include interpersonal projection, asking for clarity, using probing questions to seek further details, and evaluating and explaining the process thoroughly. The client needs to know sooner than later what is possible with the budget specified, and how modifications during the website design process can increase the cost to develop the website.

Although there are many other elements that contribute to excellent website design, web designers or their project managers must be able to provide these three main aspects for the web design project to be on a successful track.

Let's face it – you can shop anywhere, even India, for a website design firm. So why would you look for a local website designer? Let's say you live in Dallas / Ft. Worth suburb like Cedar Hill, Texas. The better grocery stores in the area are beginning to label food "locally grown" and "grown in the US" so a trend can be seen. It's obvious that the businesses in Cedar Hill would like everyone to support local business. And is not that the mantra our parents recited when we wanted to drive off with our (or their) money? Turns out it's still a solid idea. But with your website out there for the world to see, and competition for your products and services so fierce, you really do want a website design company that is good if not excellent with website design, logo design, brand development, social media integration, search engine optimization, mobile applications – everything that translates into better business for you.

Most businesses and organizations do want to bring prosperity to the area where they live simply because they, and their friends and family, live there. So, they do their first search for website design in their local or metro area. Oftentimes they find a very good website design firm. Fortunately, for the people in Cedar Hill, TX, web design in their city is top-notch. More Cabbage Marketing, Design and Technology, previously a Los Angeles and Dallas / Ft. Worth website design company, has moved to Cedar Hill. Of course they're convenient to anyone, anywhere, as that's the nature of the internet. But for this family-oriented company, serving as web designer for Cedar Hill, TX and the Dallas / Ft. Worth Metplex is especially pleasant.

Now, what can your local website designer do for you? It does not matter if your business is small or large, if you have not updated your website in three or four years, the site could easily be losing effectiveness. The internet public is notorious impatient and they'll 'move your site quickly if it is not easy to navigate or if the information is not expertly presented. Logo design and brand development are very effective ways to keep your products or services in people's minds, and something of a necessity if you plan to use the social networks to improve your visibility. And there's always a concern about ranking – where do you rank when customers search for your product or service using Google, Bing or Yahoo? If your website shows up anywhere after the first few pages, you may want to visit http://www.MoreCabbage.com and read about search engine optimization. And finally, what will customers see if they try to access your site using their iPhone? Are you ready for the future?

The More Cabbage website says, "There's a time to plant and a time to harvest (and a lot of sweaty work in-between)." Anyone who has built a business knows the truth of that statement. Great website design and internet marketing can really help shorten the distance between the planting and the harvesting. So if you're "local-minded" and you're looking for a website designer, just remember that you want a great harvest, with more cage.

Is it website design or web site design? That's a very good question. And it is a question I've been thinking about a lot lately. I've searched it. I've looked it up in the online dictionaries. I've read blogs on the subject. What exactly is the correct use of website … or web site? Here is what I've found.

Wipikedia.com and Dictionary.com suggest both "website" and "web site" as correct spelling options. The American Heritage Dictionary (dictionary.com) provided the following definition and usage note to my query:

web · site or web site – (n) A set of interconnected webpages, usually including a homepage, generally located on the same server, and prepared and maintained as a collection of information by a person, group, or organization.

"Usage Note: The transition from the World Wide Web site to Web site to website as a single uncapitalized word mirrors the development of other technological expressions which have tended to take unhyphenated forms as they become more familiar. -mail and e-mail, especially in texts that are more technologically oriented. "Similarly, there is an increasing preference for closed forms like homepage, online, and printout."

I then went to search engine king, Google, to do a little hands-on research. The new tool Google trends revealed that the one word version of website, website design, or website designer was used twice as often as the two word version of web site, web site design, or web site designer. When performing a search on Google for the two word version "web site designer", Google will ask "did you mean website designer" (one word). However, when you search for the single word version "website designer", you are not asked if you mean "web site designer". Interesting, do not you think?

Using a popular search engine optimization tool, I received very similar results. A search for website design is searched for more than twice as many times as its two-word counterpart web site design. Surprisingly, this test also showed that a simplified version "web design" was used as a search query FOUR TIMES as often as the two word "web site design".

The Chicago Manual of Style Online recognizes that a lot of people are writing and prefer the one word version "website" for informal and friendly writing. However, they recommend the two word version "web site" in more formal writing and usage, in recognition of the initiations of the World Wide Web Consortium.

Upon using the Microsoft Word spell checker on this document, I was surprised to find that it picks up a "web site" as a misspelled word. It's suggested correct spelling? You guessed it – "website" as a single word.

It seems it really comes down to personal preference. As a web designer , I like to use the single word version "website". Not only is it the current trend, but since I consider myself to be quite casual in style, both on-line and in person, it seems more appropriate. However, I think I'll do some search engine optimization of my own and incorporate the phrase "web design" more often in my own work.

Whilst choosing a perfect website template to project the right image for your business could be a lot quicker and cheaper than hiring the services and skills of a web designer, it may not be the best way to create your online presence. Whilst this may be true not all templates are equal – some are designed and structured really well and look professional while others are downright nasty. But surely with all the website templates available online there must be some that are perfect for my requirements I hear you say.

That is probably true but, as stated above, not all web templates are the same in terms of quality or as easy to work with. So what is the best solution for creating your online presence? Well the list below illustrates some of the pros and cons of hiring the services and skills of a professional web designer or to use a web template.

  • Timing Once you have located a suitable template online, you will be able to download it immediately, edit it and insert the content you want and upload it – you could have your online presence created the same day. However having a designer design your site could be a fairly long process with progress meetings and follow up meetings.
  • Customizing While most templates can be edited and customized to reflect your corporate image and so on, some of them could require a certain amount of html and web design competency. Having a web designer build your site would mean that all customizing of your site would be taken care of.

So there you have it. With all the information above you should be able to decide whether your online presence will require the coding and graphics expertise of a web designer or will it be just as good and effective with a well designed template.

There are certain qualities that are common among the best web design agencies. Whether you are looking for an agency to make a web site for you, or you are thinking about starting a web design agency of your own, you should pay close attention to these qualities. They could mean the difference between a successful experience and a poor experience. Of course, you only need to really deeply analyze agencies the first time you hire one. After that, you can go back to the same one you used before, since you already know what they are like, and have developed personal relationships.

First of all, a good web design agency should have a large array of previous work that they have done. They should also make it clear on their web site. Going to their site, you should see a huge list of web sites – real, commercial web sites that are currently in use. You can quickly click on all of these and browse through the work that the agency has done in the past. Not only should there be a lot of different sites, but each one should be unique. This shows that the agency has the ability to make diverse sites that truly reflect the company that they represent, rather than just cookie-cutter sites.

The diversity of the web sites reflects another positive quality of your designer, and that is the fact that they really communicate well with their clients. They get hired by a business, and they make every possible effort to find out exactly what the business stands for, and what they wish to accomplish with their web site. This becomes obvious when you see the final product. If possible, you should find feedback of the particular agency, and see if their previous clients mention anything about their cooperativeness, or their ability to work with the company to create a better site.

All of these qualities point to the overall ability of a web design agency to create a web site that satisfies the customers desires, as well as sell whatever product or service the company is offering. So if you are starting a web design agency, do everything you can to strive towards these ideas. And if you are looking for a web design agency to make a web site for your company, be sure to consider all of these factors when considering each prospect.

If you're looking for an easy to use web design software that will not take you a couple light years figuring out how to operate, then keep reading. Today we're going to go over a few things you should keep in mind when looking for an "easy to use" web design software.

1.WYSIWYG

WYSIWYG is the acronym for What You See Is What You Get. It's a system that allows for non-technical users to design and build web pages without knowing any HTML. The most common web design software that uses WYSIWYG technology is Microsoft Frontpage, followed by Adobe Dreamweaver.

While these types of web design software can help the non-technical user to create a simple website, the learning curve for more complex websites will likely turn off many non-technical users.

2. Web vs. Desktop Software

We've already talked about software such as Frontpage and Dreamweaver, these are considered to be desktop software because you download it to your personal computer and install it on your hard drive.

These days we have the option to also choose web based software that resides on another computer other than yours. One of the most popular examples of this is a product called SiteBuildIt!

Web site design software that is web-based will typically be pretty easy to use, but they can also be somewhat pricey considering they usually charge a monthly or yearly charge to use their software or "script".

3. WordPress CMS

WordPress is not a web design software. It what's called a "content management system" (CMS). So why then am I mentioning it in this article? Because you can create a pretty technical website / blog without knowing a lick of code.

Since WordPress is "open source" we all have the luxury of benefitting from the hard work 1,000's of programmers put in to create specialized WordPress plugins that make it easy for the average joe to bring cutting edge functionality to his web site or blog.

Another benefit to WordPress is that you can easily change the "design" of your entire web site or blog simply by changing out your "theme" with the click of a couple buttons.

In conclusion, it's important to keep in mind that while there are many "easy to use" web design software solutions one could use to create his or her own web site, you'll need to examine your own situation to determine which solution is right for you.

If funds are limited, but still want unlimited possibilities, I would look into WordPress, but hey I do not need to tell you twice, right?

WordPress is changing the way people setup and use a website. WordPress is revolutionizing the web design industry and allows anyone to easily set up their own website. The challenge is that by default WordPress is very blog orientated. One of the first things you'll notice is that the homepage displays posts instead of pages.

So what do you do when your client does not want to blog and the theme's homepage has a whole bunch of empty posts? You need to get WordPress to switch from posts to a page, but how? If your WordPress theme is currently displaying posts but you want it to display regular editable content, it's easy change to make. First start by adding a new page and giving it a title. To add a page simply click on add new, under the pages menu.

Now add your page title and your homepage text then save it by clicking the publish button. The next step is to go to the reading link under the settings main menu. Once there, select a static page and then select the page you just added in the front page menu. Then click the save changes button to save your new options. Now go look at your website's homepage, it will now have the content that you added to that static page!
You can go back and edit the homepage content at anytime by editing the new page.

It could not be easier, except if you saw the screen shots that went along with this.
