If you run a WordPress powered website you have probably wanted to embed a YouTube video at one time or another. Video can add interactivity and excitement to a blog post. Luckily, WordPress and YouTube make this a very easy process. Centering your YouTube video can be a bit tricky though, especially if you don’t know any coding. This article will teach you a very simple fix though. It will ensure you can center any YouTube video, or any object at all, for that matter.

First you have to get the video into your post. You go to YouTube, click embed (under video), choose your options and copy the HTML code. You then take that code and paste it into the WordPress visual editor. Remember you have to set to HTML, using the button in top right corner. Then you simply paste in your YouTube embed code. Now you have the video in your post or page.

Once you have that done you can switch back to the visual tab on the WordPress editor. You will see your video (or object) as a large yellow box. Ideally, you could simply click on that box and click the center button on the editor. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work. I am not sure exactly why, but it is probably because the center command in WordPress inserts HTML code that the object doesn’t recognize. For example, even if you switched back over to the HTML editor and wrapped the object in < center > tags, it won’t work.

The fix is pretty simple though. You just have to navigate back to the HTML part of your editor. You won’t see the yellow box now you will see the embed code for the video. Right before the embed code, enter:

div style = &#8220;text-align:center;&#8221; (in between html brackets of course, removing spaces around the enter symbol)

And then after the end of the embed code:

/div (also between html brackets)

When you switch back to your visual editor you will notice the yellow box is centered! Now that you have learned this code you can center any YouTube video or other object in each of your posts. Use it often enough and it won’t be long until you have the code memorized. If you aren’t comfortable with HTML, then write the above code down right now. Is it website design or web site design? That's a very good question. And it is a question I've been thinking about a lot laTely. I've searched it. I've looked it up in the online dictionaries. I've read blogs on the subject. What exactly is the correct use of website … or web site? Here is what I've found.

Wipikedia.com and Dictionary.com suggest both "website" and "web site" as correct spelling options. The American Heritage Dictionary (dictionary.com) provided the following definition and usage note to my query:

web · site or web site – (n) A set of interconnected webpages, usually including a homepage, generally located on the same server, and prepared and maintained as a collection of information by a person, group, or organization.

"Usage Note: The transition from the World Wide Web site to Web site to website as a single uncapitalized word mirrors the development of other technological expressions which have tended to take unhyphenated forms as they become more familiar. -mail and e-mail, especially in texts that are more technologically oriented. "Similarly, there is an increasing preference for closed forms like homepage, online, and printout."

I then went to search engine king, Google, to do a little hands-on research. The new tool Google trends revealed that the one word version of website, website design, or website designer was used twice as often as the two word version of web site, web site design, or web site designer. When performing a search on Google for the two word version "web site designer", Google will ask "did you mean website designer" (one word). However, when you search for the single word version "website designer", you are not asked if you mean "web site designer". Interesting, do not you think?

Using a popular search engine optimization tool, I received very similar results. A search for website design is searched for more than twice as many times as its two-word counterpart web site design. Surprisingly, this test also showed that a simplified version "web design" was used as a search query FOUR TIMES as often as the two word "web site design".

The Chicago Manual of Style Online recognizes that a lot of people are writing and prefer the one word version "website" for informal and friendly writing. However, they recommend the two word version "web site" in more formal writing and usage, in recognition of the initiatives of the World Wide Web Consortium.

Upon using the Microsoft Word spell checker on this document, I was surprised to find that it picks up a "web site" as a misspelled word. It's suggested correct spelling? You guessed it – "website" as a single word.

It seems it really comes down to personal preference. As a web designer , I like to use the single word version "website". Not only is it the current trend, but since I consider myself to be quite casual in style, both on-line and in person, it seems more appropriate. However, I think I'll do some search engine optimization of my own and incorporate the phrase "web design" more often in my own work.

1. Twitter Make it a daily habit to follow 90 to 110 new people every single day. You can do this manually or use a program like Twitter Friend Adder to accomplish this. Make sure you filter out other marketers and only follow real people who have an interest in the niche that you are marketing. How do you quickly and easily find these people? Use the search bar at the Twitter home page, type in your topic, and then type “-http” and “-www” to only find Tweets that are not promoting an external link. These people are laser targeted.

Start using a service to automate your Tweets like SocialOomph. Use the search function to find people who list your topic as and interest and who are part of a Facebook group centered around the topic. Broadcast your marketing message through status updates, similar to how you would using Twitter. Search for some applications within Facebook to link your Twitter account to your Facebook account so that all those automated marketing Tweets come through as status updates on Facebook. Stay away from using direct messages to Facebook friends for marketing. Make your direct messages as personal and “non-salesy” as you possible can to establish a relationship and let the status updates do the selling.

3. YouTube. Use a friend adder program like Tube Blaster Pro to automatically add 25 to 40 friends a day who have videos up about your topic. Whatever you do, do not try to sell to these friends through direct messages, video comments, or channel comments. Use the friend adding program to gather friends and make content-rich videos and then share these videos with your YouTube friends. Make sure these videos offer rich content and that they are 90% content and only 10% sales pitch. You can also link your Facebook and Twitter accounts to your YouTube account so these videos you make will be shared with your Facebook friends and Twitter followers as well. Create and share at least 1 video per week this way but no more than

4. MySpace. Use your MySpace page to combine all of these tactics. Write a long bio about yourself, your marketing niche, and what you’re all about. Make it interesting. Embed as many of your YouTube videos as you feel like on your MySpace page. Search within MySpace for applications that will link your Twitter account to your MySpace. Use a program called MySpace Friend Blaster Pro to add 90 to 110 new friends a day.
